Hair change during pregnancy.

Since being pregnant I have noticed that my hair is getting very dry and wiry, I am still using the same shampoo and washing as often. Did any of you notice changes in your hair? Do you know of any natural ways I can improve it?

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

Ive had this problem froma round 8weeks pregnant, my use to be really nice and easy to manage and wasnt oily or dry. Now my hair is breaking off and dry and damaged. I cant remmeberw ho it was but someone here on minti told me to use baby shampoo, i did that for awhile and it didnt break anymore but was still dry.. If you have a hair salon that sells redken products there shampoo and conditioners are fantastic!! they are a little pricey but do help the hair. At the moment im just using pantene pro v and its been ok, but i will be getting redken when this lot runs out.

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

The most natural way to fix that problem is to give birth. pmsl

I had the same problem and oddly enough I found that just changing conditioner helped a bit, even if it wasn't an expensive brand. The oil thing works as well as suggested by someone else. I had to trim mine a lot because it was really growing way too fast and splitting badly as it had become really brittle.

I've never been able to figure out exactly what changes, as hair once it's left the scalp is essentially dead and doesn't do anything except potentially deteriorate, so how it can suddenly gain extra health is beyond me. LOL

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

during pregnancy mine was fine. but my hair loses its bounce a day or two before my preiod and continues for another 2 or 3 days.

one day my friend was trying to straighten my hair , as  we had a wedding to go to and she asked if i had my period (as she was having trouble with it)i said no and 3 or 4 days later i got my period!!!!

if you wash it daily try not to as this does strip the natural oils from your hair. try drinking plenty of water and eating healthy. otherwise you might just have to wait til bubs is born

cheers annie

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

Sometimes weather you're prego or not your hair may need a boost.  I use normal cheapo brand Olive Oil.  Just whack some on your head and Glad Wrap your head to stop it getting everywhere and leave for as long as you like (the longer the better) and then wash as per you normally wash it, the oil will give it a lovely gloss and lustre that will last for several washes after.  also hair tends to grow faster when you're pregnant so you may need a trim more often than usual, this may also make you feel better about it.

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

Hi, the girls that I look after have dark hair and they always comb through some coconut oil through there hair after they have washed it. My hair is naturally oily so I wouldn't do it and mine is also a light colour but there hair is black and it is always beautiful and healthy. They get this oil from the indian shop they say so any shop that sells the eastern foods I would say. I haven't looked in the supermarket isle but it could even be in there.

Before having kids my hair was straight. When pregnant it developed a wave that has been there ever since! My hair also used to be quite oily - now it's more a normal hair type. It gets a little oily, but not as much as it used to.

Re: Hair change during pregnancy.

Your hair will change during pregnancy.  It is all hormone related.  Some days you will find it dry and brittle and others, well might feel like you have been in an oil slick.

It is normal for your hair to change even when not pregnant.  I have found in the past after a few weeks of using a particular shampoo brand, I have to change it as my hair seems to build an immunity to the products.
