Bleeding down there?

I noticed today for the first time ever my daughter had a little bit of blood when I wiped her.  I saw there was a small clot in the toilet as well.  It is very much the look of when women have thier period (just before or after). She did not see it, and has not complained anything to me out of the ordinary.  She is almost 3years.  On the paper it was red blood with clear mucus. Sorry to be graffic, but I want to make sure it's described correctly.

Is this normal?  This was very obviously from the front area as I did not wipe the back when I noticed it.  It this something that can happen off and on as she grows?  Should I do anything about it?

Re: Bleeding down there?

I have two girls and I've never heard of bleeding at 3, my eldest is 5 and never had that happen.  Newborns can have it due to the hormones after birth.

I would suggest taking her to the doctors and getting her checked, better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Bleeding down there?

I have 4 girls, and none of them have had this at a young age.  It is common for newborns to bleed a little but that's because the hormones from pregnancy are exiting their system too.

I would be taking her to the doctor.  it could be any number of things, but starting her periods at 3?  I really don't think so, so it is better to have it checked out.

Re: Bleeding down there?

I have heard of little girls having a bit of a bleed, but as others have said, bleeding of any kind in young children should be investigated asap.

I have to agree with the other comment.

I would be taking her to the doctor asap, if he/she isn't opened.. Take her to the hospital.

Hi, not to alarm you or anything but I would definitely be taking her to the doctors especially because there was a clot,  I have a 3 year old daughter & have never seen anything like that from her.

Good luck
