Hi,firstly I would just like to point out that I haven't had a stomach band fitted. But, I would just like to wish you the very best of luck. I have recently watched a few documentaries on this subject and the effects it has on peoples lives. I watched one last night about a man who weighed 73 stone. It was heartbreaking to watch this man who clearly loved his family so much and had the operation to basically keep him alive. I know how important it is to be able to have fun with your children and to be able to keep up with them.I hope the decision you make is the right one for you and your family and I wish you all the luck in the world,Loopy,xx
hiya. i have a mate who had this done and he said it hurt a bit as like a normal op pain and then he just couldnt eat much at all. if he ate more than a small rice bowl of food he was sick. but a year later ( he came over saturday) he is from 150kg and a size7xl to a size 92. he looks fab (hey if i was single id give him some thought. LOL, thats a joke with us too. LOL)
he couldnt have the kids jump on him for a few weeks, normal operation healing time.
i have heard both positive and negative things. but bottom line make sure you get a reputable doctor.
i cant remember minute details but see if you can "google " about information.
see if there is a support group out there so that if you dont know of anyone who has had the op then maybe a support group can be able to answer through their experiences what they have been through all the pitfalls and all the positives.
Hello there anon ,a friend of mine has just had it done and was camping the day she got out of hospital, she was a little sore .I know she had to only eat what she could take thru a straw for 2 weeks. She was still a little sore for the 1st week and felt like she had intergestion. As she has only had the procedure I am unable to tell you much more but good luck with your decision.
Definately don't be embarrased. I will tell you now that after the birth of both my girls I had around 30 kg to lose and it is not easy. I didn't have a lapband but chose to follow the Weight Watchers plan and I found it easy.
You are a great mother as it sounds like you really love your children and are doing this as much for them as yourself. Sorry I couldn't be any help on the lapband but good luck with it.
Awe, please dont be embaressed, never hide your light. Wanting to do something that can benefit both you and your children is wonderful and I would just like to wish you all the best in your endeavours. Sorry I cant help, but good luck and best wishes.
hiya hunny, i have aalways wanted to get one too, dont be embarrassed, though i know its easier said than done, i have a private group you may be interested in joining, for bigger woman, and we just encourage each other, minti maail me if you would like an invite, i promise you will be secret.
Sorry I can't help you with your question, but I'll say this: don't be embarassed. You obviously have a health problem, you're not the only person in the world or on minti for that matter, and the fact that you want to fix that problem more for the sake of your children than anything else shows you are agreat parent - and that is not something to be embarassed about!
