I am using depo ralovera shot as contraception method - since having my baby a little while ago. I had the shot in mid april and was told wait 3 weeks as i am not breastfeeding and had nothing else as a barrier to prevent falling pregnant. I am allergic to latex condoms and so had intercourse about 2 weeks after i had the shot.
I have been feeling nauseated for no reason lately and so have had to take anti nausea medication to settle me. Is it a possibility i could be pregnant or is it just my body returning to normal?
P.S i have had a period that was only 2 weeks ago.
I also had the depo shot after having a bub, and was told it kicks in straight away so i would not be worried. You are also told to go back for another shot in 12 weeks but just incase you miss it by a day or two do not panic you actually have an extra two weeks, a lot of doctors will not tell you that though and it is best to get it after the 12 weeks. As you have been told the depo has a lot of side affects and the nausea could be one of them, i had quite a lot of problems with the first shot and there is not alot you can do about it untill your three months are up, however i did perserver and got another one, and everything seemed to be fine. Like anything it can take your body a bit to get used to. Hope this has helped and hope you are feeling better soon.
I was on the Depo Jab for just over a year and had a shot every 12 weeks, after every shot I felt a bit under the weather and explained this to the nurse who told me that this was a very common side effect although I never needed medication to ease the sickness, personally I would go back to the doctor and explain what is going on for you and possibly reconsider if the Depo Jab is for you.
I don't know anything about the depo shot, but would like to point out something to you. You say you had to wait as you were not breastfeeding & had no other form of contraceptive. Many people seem to think that breastfeeding stops a woman getting pregnant. Just so you know in the future, that is wrong! Breastfeeding makes no difference - you can fall pregnant while breastfeeding.
