I'm in Gympie and because I'm having my 5th child (completely unplanned- my story and I'm sticking to it! lol) and she was concieved on the contraceptive pill, my gp has said that when she is born, I can go on the waiting list to have it done, or if I need a ceaserean, can get them to do it then.

Generally, you have to be over 35 in Queensland, unless you are considered a large family (3+ kids) have a medical reason for it, or your home life could be at risk if you don't have it done.

Talk to your gp about it.  Start the paperwork.  By the way, why doesn't he get a vasectomy?  Noone questions men about that.

I live in Nth Qld and was 26 when I had my tubes tied. I was pregnant with my second baby and asked for it to be done and was never denied or questioned over  my reasons. Usually they want you to wait til you are 30.

Talk to your OB or Dr. explain the situation and ask if there is someone who will do it. There are many OB's who will do it to younger mums if they have a valid reason. It may involve some counselling sessions.

And it's not like you can never have kids again. It is possible to have a reversal or have IVF after you've had them done (which for me means that I would have to be in a more financially secure place etc).

HI there,I was 29 with 4 children and had been married for 9 years but they would not give the procedure until I was 30.I have actually done a advice article on tubal ligation but I do not know how to do a link sorry if you click on my user name and look in my advice articles you will find it there.I had it done when I was 31 i think it was.

i have been asking for the last 3 years as yes i do want more kids but health wise i cant. i have been told i have to be 35, but in saying that if you have a really awesome gyno they will do it at 30. my aunty had hers done this year and she is 32 tomorrow.
