pram walking

Posting this here for new  member  laraheater who asked this in a members blog;

Pram walking
Hi, first time user but my yahoo address has not yet received the rego so i can ask a question - and am really keen to ask it so I thought you might be kind enough to post it for me until yahoo comes to the party...

I walk into town each morning with bub in a strider bassinette pram with extra padding on the matress. I have done this since she was born 5 mths ago. we walk along cement and paved paths, not too rough but she still rattels a little in there. She sleeps fine and seems t o enjoy this routine. I am now walking in the afternoon as well. am I doing any damage to her brain / head by having her in the pram so much? she sleeps 12 hrs straight in the night has since birth), BF fine, smiles all the time and doesnt really cry so i am assuming i would not be doing any damage. I thought she could get headaches but nothig is indicating this but I am now starting to worry and maybe I sould not walk with her in the pram so much? or buy another more suited to walking?? has anyone heard of damage done by pram walking too much. all up it is about 2 hours per day.

would be greatly appreciated if someone could kindly post this for me.

cheers, lara :)

Re: pram walking

I was told you just cant run with the pram until they are over 6mths . as long as your pram is padded I cant see the problem with you just walking!

Enjoy the fresh air

Re: pram walking

I wouldn't be concerned about it. I used to walk with mine through parks and everything. There is just as much rocking around in the car, and even if you walked with her etc. And you have padding in the pram, so it's not as if she is hitting her head continually on a hard surface.

Re: pram walking

I've never heard of damage caused by prams. You have padding in there & it's only 2 hours, I wouldn't worry. To cause damage to her brain she would have to be shaken a lot - just a bit of bouncing in a pram shouldn't be a problem.

If the path you take is rough, put in a complaint to the local council. They should fix any problems (if they are reluctant threaten to sue if you fall on the rough spots!)
