yes, me again!! sorry tmi??

hey i ahve another question and this may seem yuck but i need to ask.

Im 34weeks pregnant, baby is very low, bad back aches, always going toilet for both hahahaha, slight headaches during the day, sleeping alot and if not sleeping im rushing around soing things (nesting bug bad, i know).

Anyway.......

Friday night when i wiped myself i looked at the toilet paper and seen stringy green discharge/mucus, there was only a tiny blob tho. I have seen this just a few times since, only tiny amounts tho. Well all day today ive had b/h on and off and lower back pain. Im also getting a little cramp followed by a quick stinging stab in the vagina, then ill feel bub move down low. Then when i go toilet i see thick off white discharge, no blood and no smell. Is this the mucus plug?? i dont have any itching or burning while i urinate or ever.

Please help me out here, i dont wana drive myself mad, just wana know whats going on.I know you have an increase in discharge towards the end but is this the plug?

Dannii xxo

Friday night after i went toilet

Don't worry about these questions being 'tmi' we've all been through this & are here to help. It really sounds like you are very close to seeing your beautiful baby! This discharge may be normal but the colour is a bit odd - talk to doctor about it just to be on the safe side. But don't get yourself into a panic, I'm sure all is fine. All women are different, like I didnt have any discharge at all with my first 2 & just the 'plug' with my third. Some get discharge, some don't, & the discharge can be different.

Hi Dannii,

I've had the thick green discharge with all mine, and for me it is normal.  It can be a sign of dehydration, or so I've been told, but I just think it is normal.

You will know if it is the plug.  It will look like a melted lolly egg and have the texture of almost latex.  It will also be streaked with blood and is often anywhere from clear in colour right through to the green.

With discharge in pregnancy, unless there is itching or burning, then it is fine.  Our cervix need to go through a cleaning cycle too.  It actually means your body is doing its job.

The feeling you are getting now is because bubs head is right down low.  I know when I wipe myself a little less gently, there is an instant reaction and back to the waterfall again! lol.  If you are sexually active (as uncomfortable as it can be) still, then your partner might be able to tell you he can feel bubs head moving around.

Every thing to me sounds like you are right on track.  I'm not far behind you and feel as though I'm at the same stage.  I suppose it lasts for the last 3 months.

hiya sweetie,

Sounds to me like your mucus plug, BUT what concerns me is thhe snot coloured discharge. IT PROBABLY is nothing, HOWEVER you can not afford to take any chances, and you HAVE to talk to your midwife.  Good luck, im so excited about the upcoming birth!!

Re: yes, me again!! sorry tmi??

it sounds like the mucus plug to me.  With my first, I noticed the lost of my plug after I went to the bathroom and wiped myself. It was clear, slimey looking. There wasn't much. But then the next morning, when I went to the bathroom first thing in the morning, there was a lot more with a little bit of blood. After that I had increased contraction and I gave birth the next day on my son's due date.

If this is your mucus plug, that means you will start to dilate. But this doesn't necessarily mean you will go into labor just yet. Women go weeks to as much as a couple month dilated to 2 cm before they go into labor.

My suggestion is to keep monitoring yourself for signs and any changes. Take note if your braxton hicks are coming much more than before and if you feel/notice them a lot more. This will be one of your clues as to whether you are starting labor...and call your doctor. You're just a tad bit early right now to give birth just yet.

Hi Dannii,

I personally think that you need to get in touch with your local Maternity hospital as soon as possible. Any coloured discharge during pregnancy can be a sign of something else. Plus the fact that you have had an increase in discharge would also increase the need to speak to a midwife asap . .

Please make that call . . .

Cheers Kellz

Re: yes, me again!! sorry tmi??

Dannii, if I remember correctly that's some of the baby's poop coming out.. (I think.. I could be wrong)
But I think you should call your local maternity ward at the hospital and ask them.. You might have to go in, as labor might be coming soon for you!

Re: yes, me again!! sorry tmi??

Google, is always good for something..
Here is something I found for you!

When should I call my caregiver?

If there's a lot of thin, clear discharge, it can be hard for you tell if it's just mucus or if you're leaking amniotic fluid. If you have any doubt, contact your midwife or doctor.

Call your practitioner right away if you're not yet at 37 weeks and you notice an increase in discharge or a change in the type of discharge (if it becomes watery, mucus-like, or bloody — even if it's just tinged with pink or brownish old blood). This can be a sign of preterm labor.

You should also call your caregiver if you suspect that you have an infection. If you have an odorless, whitish discharge that's causing you discomfort such as itching or burning — or your vulva looks inflamed — you might have a yeast infection.

If your discharge is foul-smelling or frothy or yellow, green, or gray, you might have a different kind of vaginal infection or a sexually transmitted infection, even if you don't have symptoms of irritation, itching, or burning.

In either case, don't try to treat yourself with over-the-counter medications. It's important to first see your practitioner for a diagnosis to make sure you get appropriate treatment

(What I highlighted in bold is for the green discharge you were speaking about)
