i'm planning to feed my little one formula and was just wondering if people know the better brand to buy. i live in south australia and i don't care for cost i just want the more nutritional choice.
Generally, the more expensive the formula, the better the benefits to bubs. Try the s26 brand, it is pretty good but more pricey than most of the others. It is a national brand, so you should be able to get it in every state of Australia and throughout New Zealand too.
You may want to consider an organic brand which have come on the market. I personally use a thickened formula (s26) which has been fine and i dont want to change now but if I had my time again I would have gone the organic road.
My bubs isnt here yet but ive done alot of researcg on formula becuase i plan on bottle feeding. Im using Heinz Nurture Gold, Its $21-$22 a tin. I know a few people who have used this formula and all their babies loved it and fed on it well.
When my Girls were bubs my mothercraft Nurse highly recommended Amcal - which is the same as s26 and is equalivent to breast milk with the nutrition side.. My girls thrived on it, and its a great brand...
There's not a lot of different nutrition wise. All makers of baby formula have standards to meet. I used Nan with my first child. With my second 2 I started on Nan but they had a lot of reflux with it so I changed to Heinz & found it much better. I also like the fact that Heinz has different formula according to age (if I remember rightly, it's up to 6 months, then a different one for over 6 months).
I have been told at a hospital recently that all brands are similar. That is because all have to meet strict guideline to be on the market. I myself use Heinz Nuture. I was using another brand but changed as this was cheaper. Chemist's Own brand is just as good and cheaper still. If I could find a conveinient chemist, I would be using that. Amcal also have a discount card, so in time it would be benificial. The main thing is to stick with one and not to chop and change to often.
I also used S26 gold, the reason being is that this is what the hospital used and we wonted to continue with it. It has a good reputation as being one of the better formulas. Depends on what your baby is like as to what you should buy.
You can by soya formula and also formula for reflux. Here is some info
my youngest is on s26 but it is the pharmist brand of s26 i pay $10 .99 i will be using the same for this baby too . it is from mychemist i am not sure if you have one up your way
