Re: waters???

It is possible for your waters to leak during the last few days of pregnancy and mostly it will be clear.   It is an indication you need to have your bags packed and be ready for a trip to the hospital.

Maybe soon we will be hearing of your new arrival.

With my 1st, they had to break my waters due to a double membrane (the membrane holding the waters and bubs was twice as thick as normal), with all my others, my waters have broken shortly before they popped out.  2 of mine had already passed the meconium, which made the waters appear green/brown and the other 2 were clear.

The breaking of your waters can feel like you have suddenly been caught out by your period.   It for me has been that same yucky feeling that comes with the first flows of period blood.  Obviously, there has just been more gushing.

Re: waters???

my waters broke while i was walking home, luckily i was nearly there, for me it was clear fluid leaking out which i had no control over, couldn't stop it like you would a wee, it didn't stop until i gave birth, i had a lot of fluid...with my first i felt like i needed to go to the toilet and they broke just before i made it to the toilet, it was a big puddle on the floor an nothing more and with my second they broke my waters just before she came out, it's different for everyone but with my last i called the hospital straight away and the midwives told me to come in to the hospital within an hour, just to make sure everything was ok, and to check for/prevent infection.  Ring the hospital and get them to check you out

Re: waters???

With my eldest my waters just broke in the shower and wouldn't have known any different it if wasn't hot however with my youngest I felt a pop and knew my waters had broken.  My contractions with my youngest felt like I had a stomach bug and I felt these for about an hour before my waters broke.

Good luck.

Re: waters???

Well Jo, it could be...I didn't even know my waters broke, I just felt like I needed to pee all the time & was at the toilet every 15 mins. If you haven't already I would go see the midwife at the hospital, but I'm guessing you have already gone cause you aren't online....waiting for the text!

Luv ya loads

Re: waters???

Waters can sometimes have a slightly slimy or oily kind of feel to them, whereas urine is just wet. Is there still a bit of a leak? If there is, then yes it's your waters. If it's not and it's totally stopped from when you went to the toilet, then it probably isn't. There is actually a heck of a lot of "water" and it will make more little exists with every little cramp and movement of the baby. Urine... well... once you're bladder is empty, it's empty.

When very heavily pregnant it's not unusual for baby to suddenly put a heap of pressure on your bladder and your pelvic floor muscles suddenly give way and you might not even feel it and just notice you're suddenly standing in a puddle. I got caught out in public like that once, and from then on, it was incontinence pants for me in the last few weeks! It's also not uncommon to have a few little cramps and the like after going to the toilet sometimes as well.

If you're still leaking, or those cramps keep getting worse, then it might pay to check in with the local maternity ward.

Re: waters???

well if you think they have then ring your midwife and she may come and see you or ask you to pop up to hospital as it is always best to be safe!

Please don't panic though, just ring them and chat-that's better than not doing anything at all. My waters broke but it was the next day before labour started but I was advised to come and get checked as they don't want you to worry or an infection to set it....please ring them hunny.

good luck and wishing you all the best hunny.

hugs n hope

xx

Re: waters???

If you suspect they've broken, go to the hospital.  My aunt's water broke but only trickled out, so she didn't know, and didn't go to the hospital to find out, and by the time her daughter was born she had severe pneumonia from the exposure. The docs didn't think she would make it (she did, though).

So go.
