Re: Scratching

We were driven nuts by our 2nd child's scratching too.  It was because of sandflies that we couldn't get rid of.

We were using the QV wash range to help to soothe the itching, but as for stopping her scratching, there wasn't much we could do except tell her to stop when we caught her at it.

Re: Scratching

Ask your doctor for an antihistamine(can't spell it propely!) It will reduce the inflamation and calm the itching. Have you tried Calomine lotion, this is great too it also works for chicken pocks as it stos a child from itching but it feels a little cold at first when you put it on!!

Hope something helps you hunny!

Re: Scratching

My son would wake up in the middle of the night scratching....

What I do is each night after a bath or shower would rub him from head to toe with moisturizer cream.. This stopped his scratching during the night... Which was the worse time for him.  It took a few goes to find one that worked for him, and I noticed that if I missed a night of cream, he would be up scratching and during the next day...

It was trial and error on which cream to use for him as there were so many... I can't think of the one I use off the top of my head but it has a goat on it.. :) I will try and find it...

Re: Scratching

Put him in a cool bath or shower first to calm the skin, then I would smother him in calamine lotion as often as needed. A few other really good creams are Calendula Gel and Stop Itch Plus Bite Relief Cream. Both are available from the chemist. Stop Itch is great for more intense itches and scratches so that one might be the go.

I hope he settles down soon.

Re: Scratching

hey how are you? I have used Calamine Lotion before for my daughters when they have mozzie bites and that stopped the itching for them, it does wonders. you can get that from either the supermarket or chemist and another good thing is that you can get from chemist is this cream that stops itching from mozzies, and other insect bites not sure what thats called though...but give calamine lotion a go, it really worked for me...good luck hope it works for your son.
