sick

As most of you know my boy (11.5mths)as been sick with vomiting.

He seems better today and has taken all his morning bottle and some toast with out vomiting (fingers crossed he dosen't)

I am trying to give him lots of fluids.

My question is, if he is better what is a good thing I can give him for lunch other than dry toast and vegemite?  Do i give boiled rice?

Re: sick

I hope he gets better soon. The US diet BRAT is very interesting too, he migh not eat a lot so as long as he drinks plenty of fluid he should be ok with what you are feeding him at the moment. Just a gradual process bless him!

hugs n hope

Re: sick

I have always found the plain salted chips are good for helping to settle a queasy stomach.

They replace lost salts and are bland enough to not cause any further irritation to the stomach.

I also find that chilled water helps or even ice chips.

Re: sick

plain yoghurt is good; especially if it has the acidophilus & bifidus in it... helps to re-build the intestinal flora.

Re: sick

the BRAT is the best thing, what mom2jedd said below.  And you can expand on that with starchy bland items like potatoes, caldo (veggie soup) and chicken soup are also very good for the stomach flu.  Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon!

Re: sick

I would definately keep him on plain, dry stuff. Ritz biscuits are good, they're dry but softer then Jatz. Crispbread, toast, plain rice crackers. I know it's boring but his tummy needs to rest as much as possible. Just let him graze, don't feed him all in one go.

I hope he's on his way to getting better....fingers crossed!!!!!

Re: sick

Hi since he has been so ill I wouldnt give him too much food or drink. Let him guide you in regards to how much he wants and needs.

Over loading him with fluid and food may make his tummy very sore. I personally would still keep the vegimite and toast thing happening for today unless he expresses interest in somthing different. Dry biscuits are good to snack on like sao's or salada's. Tonight try him on his regular dinner and see if he picks at that.

Good luck
