Re: braxton hicks??

Ugh !!! I hate those things, mine were almost more painful than the real labour, I went into hospital 4 times with my first convinced I was in labour only to be told it was just practice !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: braxton hicks??

hmm, sounds like the start of labour?  I would take a walk and see if they go away, if they don't, then you are entering early labor.  Try to just get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, and try to eat, cause once you go into the hosp they don't let you eat at all until after bub is born.  Good luck and how exciting!

Re: braxton hicks??

If you're having contractions, try drinking water and then lie down. You could also take a shower and see if the contractions go away (BH contractions will normally do that). If these symptoms don't go away, then start timing your contractions. if they're coming in frequently (less than 5 minutes apart), then call your Labor and Delivery. They'll advise you what to do next. if you have to come in, they'll tell you and that will let them prepare for your arrival as well. Good luck to you!

Re: braxton hicks??

there is a way to tell bh from contractions, i have sever bh and i rang my midwife only to be told bh can be painful too and she said to me to lay down and relax and if the pain stops its bh if it continues and becomes reg then its labour. so i hope this helps try lay down for an hour near a cloc and time them and see if the pain and pressure subside. if they dont i strongly suggest you go to hospital.

Re: braxton hicks??

While it sounds like you are not too far off having your baby, you can actually spend a few weeks going through what you are describing.  I know, I'm starting to feel the same and I still have 9 weeks to go.

Pre-labour can last for upto the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy, and includes regular intense Braxton Hicks contractions that can last for upto 90 seconds, added pressure in your pelvic region particularly the tailbone due to bubs head engaging and moving through the pelvic opening.

I would say Dannii, you are going to be a lucky lady and have a reasonably quick labour, especially if the pelvic pressure is as intense as it sounds.

Hi Dannii,

Sounds like you are getting closer to going into ful labour. If you haven't by the time you read these.LOL. Don't think you have long to go now. Very close.

Re: braxton hicks??

Sounds very similar to what happened to me with my first. It started out with me noticing a lot more braxton hicks, and then that evening it was uncomfortable to sleep. The next evening, I couldn't sleep and then I went to labor that midnight on my due date.

You may not be on active labor just yet, but you're getting there. Good luck to you!

Re: braxton hicks??

Me too, Had braxton hicks the night before( the first that I had had all the way through the pregnancy, I thought it was wind!) then a very restless night and was 3cm dilated when I got to the hospital.Call the maternity ward and see what they say.

All the best

You could actually be in labour. Give the hospital a call, let them know what is happening, & they can tell you if you need to go in. If you are not in labour, you are not far off it! Good luck!

Re: braxton hicks??

hi danni.......how are you feeling? Does sound like things are starting to move along for you, if you feel its getting worse or there closer together ring the birth suite and a midwife will ask you some questions and may ask you to come in and be checked out to see if its happening.

With my first l didnt even know l was in labor as l just had a dull pain.....it was not until later with Justin  l had to go in early and be checked out as l thought my waters had broken a week later he came .Andrew and John where stronger pains and l knew...but my water never broke until l was ready to give birth. Mark l never went into labor as he was a c section........with Dean l had weeeks and weeks of BH , early hours one morning l woke up and thought they where BH as they where all over the place ands very uncomfortable in my lower back......when my plug went l knew.

ood Luck
