Your lounge is where only your people on your friends list can see what is put in there.  It is more private, and people can leave messages for you.  This does not show up on the activity page.

Blog stands for biographical log, so is like a diary where you can put whatever you want but it is viewed by the general community and does appear on the latest activity page.

If you feel something you are going to write could cause a stir, or you just don't want the world to see it, then put it in your lounge.  Those on your friends list are then still able to read it and leave comments for you.

A blog is where you write down your thoghts or just about anything really it is seen by all memebers and non members

Your lounge is only for people on your friends list and they can send you pretty pictures and graphics etc.  If you want to be private you can also blog in your lounge.  It dosen't come up on the activity list.
