My little Krystana is biting me while feeding. She's 7months old, and doesn't appear to be teething atm, but near the end of a feed she starts to bite down on me - VERY OUCH!!! I don't want to wean her off me just yet if I can help it, so any of you got any suggestions on what I can do to stop her biting?
I agree the firm no and then taking her off the breast works well. I did that for my son and it was the first and last time that he bit me. Also, if it's at the end of the feed, she may be signaling to you that she is done. Maybe give her a cue, like having her reach her hand up or saying "all done?" to give her a cue. Granted she will have no idea what you are saying, but the tone she will learn has to do with being full. Like I said, it could be her way of telling you that she is done, at least with that side. Do you take her off right after she bites? If so, maybe that is what she learned to do to let you know...Good luck and I hope she stops soon.
This is going to sound a litte mean...but my sister used to say NO NO real oud and plunk the little one of the head lightly. They learned fast...LOL She didn't do it hard. Just enough to get their attention. They got the hint fast....hehehehe
She could be biting at the end of the feed because your milk is slowing down and she is trying to get more. Just give her a firm no and hopefully this will stop. My son used to do the same thing and after about a week of saying no he stopped.
Hi, Jade did that still does on occasion, and she is just ova 10mths. I just say no in a deep voice and put the breast away, stop feeding. She may crack it a little, but she will learn. Keep up the deep "no".
hey, Myah was doing this as well and found that it just passed as time went on, it lasted for about 1 week or so. She was doing it when i wasnt looking at her, so i give her all the attention she wanted while i fed her till the novelty wore off. I know its hard when you have other children and other people around but its the best advice i can give ya!! I even had myah draw a little blood at one stage...i hope u go ok....
