toddlers shoes

well yesterday i purchased my baby size 4 shoes, which were an exact fit.....his feet apparently are wide however the velcro allowed for extra room in the sides......there was a size 5 shoe which i prefered in style, sadly no size 4 in this range....i walked away with just the size 4 but maybe I should of purchased both? as they were clarks shoes greatly reduced in price....

my question is how fast do there feet grow? would the 5 fit at the end of winter or maybe next? if its the summer, well thats no good as its a winter shoe........im thinking of going back today to buy the shoe?

Re: toddlers shoes

I have found that my child's feet grwo VERY fast!! I slo have sound out that different brands run small/large for babies and not to buy any shoes without her there lol...What I have done is not go overboard on buying shoes all in one size..I know that every few months I will have to buy more

Re: toddlers shoes

As every one says it depends on the child, however if your little one is any thing like mine it is not size that is the issue but width, my two keep changing from G fitting to H fitting, and as width is important too, you might find you end up wasting your pennies. My advice is buy only what fits at the time of measuring, as growth is so unpredictable.

Re: toddlers shoes

I would go back and see if you can get them. Ruby's feet grew a size every 3 months between the ages of 1 and 2. Its a bit slower now. If I find a pair she likes on sale now, I try and buy a couple of sizes... it also prevents her throwing tantrums when she needs to go up a size, cos she gets obsessed with wearing exactly the same type of shoes. God knows what I'll do when they change the style! Em x

Like kseers said, it depends on the child. Plus, it depends on whether they've gone through a growth spurt.

My son's feet grew very fast from abotu 14-16 months (see MonkeyDad's blog). I bought 3 different pairs of shoes (sandals, tennis shoes, dress shoes) and 2 months later, we couldn't fit his feet into them. Yikes!  But in the last 6 months or so, he actually wears out the souls of the shoes before we have to buy new ones.

Re: toddlers shoes

Sorry to say but it depends on the child.  I bought some for B in spring and they were a bit too big - they lasted her all summer.  The lady said to aim for about 6 months per size.  So, I worked on the same principal and bought some boots for winter and she is just about out of the them already.  Still, if they are Clarks the assistant shoudl be able to advise you as they should be trained in measuring etc....

Re: toddlers shoes

Oh gosh, I don't know.  We tend not to buy shoes until they are about 2, as we don't go out much and the youngest is in the pram when we do.  My 2 year old wears size 7 (Australian sizing), and they are still a bit big on her, but we bought them a little bigger because didn't want to be buying more a few weeks later.

Actually, with all my kids, we get at least a half size bigger so that they have room to grow.

Re: toddlers shoes

You should have brought them both. Might be a few weeks or a month but he will be a size 5 before you know it.
