My son, who is nearly 9, has been diagnosed with "phimoses" which is basically a really tight foreskin. He has suffered from 3 lots of Balanitis (infection) this year but has not had any previous problems. Our doctor has sent a refferal to a uroligist so we are waiting on that atm. If he has to be circumcised then we will go ahead with it, but i'm wondering if anyone knows of any other way to help this problem without surgery. We live in Brisbane, Australia. Thanks
My doctor told me the same for my son when he was really little. What she told me to do was to gently strech the foreshin down, just a little every day. This helps to strech it and grow with the rest of his body. I did that everyday twice a day and when he was about 4 m he no longer had a tight foreskin. When you pull it back you will see it red or purple, but don't pull to tight, just enough so you can see the head start to pop out, and soon enough it will be loose just like it should be. You can try this if you don't want surgery, because truely the older the baby gets, the more painful it will be. If you have any questions, feel free to minti mail me.
Betamethasone cream is a type of steroid that you can put on it. I'm pretty sure you need a doctor's prescription for it. It is not always successful so you may still need to look at circumsision.
I only have girls, so not much help here. I did just search through my writing site (helium.com Ok, so not my site, but I write for them) and came up with 10 articles that mention this. Instead of listing every single article, I'm going to put the link to the results page in External Links found just below your question.
There are also some adds down the right of this page that might be of some help to you as well.
I have heard (dont quote me) that there is a ointment that you can put on it and you get your child to basicly play witht he foreskin and slowly lift it up making it larger.
