Hi Everyone! Does anyone have some book recommendations for toddlers? I have a 15 month old who loves books..She has some, but I'm looking to expand!! What books do your children love and while we are at it, what books do you love? I'm looking to get back into reading a little mroe than magazines!..I love books but haven't really had much time to read lol
I am a big fan of reading to babies and kids and since my little one was in my belly I have been reading to him and now he is 6 months old and we read for about an hour a day. I have a large selection of mem fox (the favourite is Where is the green sheep?) and all the dr suess books. You can get a library card too, we have one, and we go to the reading session at the local library every week and borrow about 15 books for the week. You could try this and if you find a real favourite then go out and buy it.
We love Mem Fox, Richard Scarry, Linley Dodd, Spot and Dr Seuss, but they may be a bit old for a toddler. What about some great touch and feel or lift the flap books, or some picture books - especially people & animal ones. Check out here and here for some great ideas. You will need something simple and bold - a great one would be the waterhole which you can get in a board book and another favourite is baby faces, by baby bright.
Mem Fox, where is the green sheep, great reading for little ones, and it is available in a card book. What is fantastic is that it keeps building on repetetive ideas.
Word books are great too, as she will love pointing to the pictures and saying the words
My 1 year old loves to read the touch and feel books and the flip and flap books... I suggest you go to the library. We always go to the library. Some libraries have story time that your kids can join in.
Great way to get books with out spending too much $$$ The books that you find your child really likes then you can go out and buy them or request them for his birthday or christmas.
Great that he loves to read. By all means buy books but as each child is different, start by visiting the library, thats my suggestion. Not only can they be changed regually, the ones they really love you can purchase and also they learn to look after them. Most libraries have story sessions too. Have fun!
