Re: I Love You

My daughter turned 2 in May and is already putting sentences together really well, but I think that "Luff You" (I love you) only started a couple of months ago.  It is quite a phrase for a little one to repeat.  Now she says it a lot.

rhiannon was talking before she could walk properly. she started putting sentences together when she was about 12 months old.  she is learning her colours and counting atm. she is 21 months. my son was the same, it has alot to do with how people (as in everyone) address the child. no baby talk, corrections to their sentences where it is needed and ample recognition when they use real words early on are all good ways to encourage early speach. kudos to ya, sounds like you have done well thus far. ::)'s

Re: I Love You

It depends on the child and how many older siblings they have.  It also depends on how often they hear it from people around them.

Speech and vocabulary development can take longer, upto 3 years, due to the English language being so complex.  The more talking (healthy talking) children are exposed to, whether it is you talking with your partner or with other people etc etc, the more likely your child will pick up on language quicker.

Once they master the basics of communication, it is only a matter of time before you are wishing they did come with an off switch.

Re: I Love You

When my son was 5 months old, we were in bed and his dad kissed us goodbye before left for work. He said "I love you" to us and my son said, "I yaaa yooouu". We were both flabbergasted! But then that was just that one time and never to be repeated again. My son actually started talking late at 2 years old.   So he started saying it then....

Re: I Love You

I only know 2 babies about that age, but neither of them say i love you yet. One of them only says dad and occationally mum. The other one says alot of words too, but not i love you. I think it takes them a while to string a sentence together too.
