My 11 month old has a cold. His nose is runny and he is coughing and sneezing. I am giving him medicine for his runny nose, but i was wondering if there is anything i can give him to help his little throat. His voice even sounds different at the moment.
Hi there and good luck. Having been a professional singer I always found that boiled water (like a cup of tea) with honey in it is good. If your bub is weened, a bit of warm milk with honey melted in it is good, or alternately go back to the warm water with honey. First melt the honey with boiling water and then cool it down. I still use this with my daughter (4 in August) and it is her winter treat when she feels unwell to have "honey milk". It works wonders at any age but I would suggest, havign said all that, with all the allergies that kids are suffering at the moment maybe check it out, crikeys I don't know - and vaguely I remember an age thing before you should give the little ones honey. Good luck. Annie
Thanks everyone for your replies. I ended up putting baby vicks on his chest back and feet, some dimetapp for his runny nose and i realised yesterday afternoon that he had another tooth cut thru!! Poor baby, it always happens all at once. So he had some panadol too! He seems much better today and we are pain killer free so far!
It may sound old fashioned but it does work. Rub vicks vapor rub on the soles of his feet and put the socks on. Don't forget the chest and back. It will make him feel alot more comfortable.
Poor little man. Other than enjoying the peace and quiet (well, sort of) you could try any thing icy to help ease the pain. The chemist even has special iceblocks that are normally for people who have a stomach bug, but can also be used to help keep fluids up and energies too which have been lost by those suffering from colds and flus.
Acetaminophen (I think it's what you call panadol?) which is normally given for fevers, is a pain reliever and this will provide some pain relief with the sore throat as well.
so sorry to hear the litle man has a sore throat, dam cold weather, i would ring the chemist until then maybe nice cold yogurt or smooth food so it wont srape his little throat. take care the both of you
panadol, nuerofen, brauer homeopathic or you could try the chemist, mine has lolliepops (homeopathic) for colds, pain etc. You might want to give these a try.
