I've had mine for a year and a half, and I haven't had my period for most of that time, but last month, and this month again, I've gotten my period. Only for like 2 days, but it just seems weird to me.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I'm not pregnant, right? lol (my hugest fear ever!)
I have had a mirena for almost a year now & didn't have any bleeding for the first 6 months or so apart from when it was fitted. I now get 1-2 days of very light bleeding or spotting each month & it is nothing to worry about, it's completely normal. If you read the information leaflet when you get it it says that you will have no bleeding or very light bleeding while it is fitted. I guess the ones that have none are very lucky but I still think I'm lucky that I only get 1-2 days a month & it's so light it's not even worth it!
I've never been on the mirena, my doctor tells me that any form of chemical contraception is now a waste of time for me, given the fact that #5 has been conceived on the pill.
I have heard that it can take awhile for your body to adjust to the new devices, any where upto 2 years.
No form of contraception is 100% effective so there is always a risk of falling pregnant even when using a chemical contraception. I'd go and see the doctor and discuss what you are experiencing with them.
I have the mirena fitted as well.I have had it for over two years and have not had any type of bleed at all-except when it was fitted.Get it checked out asap.I knew someone who got pregnant on the mirena-she calls her a zebedee baby-remember the spring coil man in Magic roundabout? No contraception is 100% except having no sex!!. Good luck.
It is very normal to have breakthru bleeding while on IUD or long term birth control pills. Why? Don't know, but it's not harmful. I would not think that you are preggy in anyway, just cause it's a pretty good form of BC. But I would call the doc and check and let them know what's going on. It may have moved a bit if anything, so it would not hurt. But I would not stress to much...
