Well my little girl Cody-Lee has been to numerous docters and skin specialists regarding this red, dry, itchy and very painful rash that she gets on mainly her hands ( Also pops up under her arms, behind her knees and also inbetween her thighs ) Now each person we have seen has perscribed her a cream that has cortisone in it but they just makes the rash 10 times painful and worse...I don't use soap when she is in the bath or shower I use soap free body wash. But this is really starting to get the better of me I don't know what I can do to make this stop....Any-one who replies with any idea it would muchly appriciated.
Water quality and weather can be factors in this, so try and keep your house warmish and slightly humid. I get pretty bad eczema myself, and it is usually only during the cooler months when the weather is dry and cold.
As for how to deal with it in kids, I'm not sure, none of mine have this issue. With my own red patches, I leave them as I know they are going to go away be themselves, but I do have to make a conscious effort to not scratch them.
Maybe a honey based shower gel, as honey is very good for the skin. I have also used the Q&V brand of beauty products and they have worked too. Just get them from the chemist. They are safe for adults and children and are soap free but very moisture rich.
Hey Tell! Poor Codz...she doesn't get it easy does she! I have been meaning to ask this for a while now but I always forget when I see you - have any doctors suggested taking her off dairy & anything with nuts in it? One of my other friends did this with her son & it cleared it up no probs...might be worth a try. I'll try catch up with you this weekend (you better come to my UnderCover Wear party, LOL!)
My boys and I get really bad skin in the winter, we use QV i bath the kids in the oil, i shower with the wash and use the cream dailey. it 's made be the ppl who make pinetarsol, it to can help with the itch. Anyway hope that helps, : )
My 3 of my children have eczema, a condition they unfortunately got from me. They have extremely itchy spots that at their worst oozes. It gets really bad during the winter. Their spots appear in the common areas too, like behind the knees, on the upper thigh/groin area, behind the ears. When the spots are very bad, I use an over-the-counter cortisone cream (1%) 2x a day until it no longer looks bad (usually 2-3 days). After that I just use plenty of fragrance free lotion every day. Like you, I also use soap free body wash, and fragrance free dye free clothes detergent.
How long do you use the cream for? Maybe it hasn't had a chance to work?
