Re: help pretty please

Hi

It really is going around. Natalya got it on Tuesday and I took her straight to the doctor. He said that they don't like giving antibiotics unless it gets really bad. He said to wipe her eyelids with salt water solution in the morning and gave me a prescription with instructions to only get it made up if her eyes got really red.

He also said it was a virus and very contagious.

Luckily Natalya recovered quickly and we didn't have to get the antibiotic made up.

Hope Caitlin recovers quickly.

Re: help pretty please

I used to get it all the time until I got married.

My wife told me to rub my wedding gold ring on it....I was like "yeah."....But it worked every time.

Probably coincidence more than anything but what the hey!!!

Re: help pretty please

i had heard you do that for a "stye" i didnt know you can do that for conjuctivitis. if you rub the ring on it  you could crosscontaminate

Re: help pretty please

I have never had it but I am pretty sure that you can go to the chemist and ask there. If they think she needs to go to the doctor they will say.

Re: help pretty please

My mum always used a tablespoon of salt to about 1/2 cup of water and then bathed our eyes using cotton wool.  You have to be careful about cross contamintation so it is advisable that once the eye has been wiped once, you throw the cotton wool away and get a new one out.

Re: help pretty please

yeah pretty much what everyone is saying . warm compresses to the eye .

that is warm water with a clean face washer held there for a couple of minutes repeated .

just make sure when you repeat the face washer is clean or use another so as your not reinfect with the guck coming off. it will take a couple of days

its hard to keep her hands away from her eyes but make sure she doesnt put her hands there because again she will reinfect the area.

Re: help pretty please

A  Chemist is a excellent person to talk to....they will take a look at Caitlin's eyes and reccomend what's right for her & will also inform you if they they feel she needs to see a doctor.....(the eyes are precious)

Cheers Janice

Hey Bel,

Oh wat a bugger!! I hate conjuctivitis. You can buy over ocunter stuff without seeing a doctor but ive always known to wipe the eye over with salt water, so you just get warm water and a little bit of salt, just dont get it in the eye.

Put wet (but not dripping wet) tea bags over her eyes. Cooled first obviously. LOL
