After looking for a system for a really long time, I found a software package that I just love.  It's called My Reward Board.  My kids and I have been using this for about 2 months, and they really have started doing chores because of it.  It's very flexible - you can update what chores they are supposed to do and how often, you can have several children in it (I have three), and you decide what they get for doing their chores.  The only thing is, if you aren't planning to have an allowance, it's probably not so good then.  But check it out.  We love it!
