You take it out of the plastic and rinse all the goo of it then you can put it in a big sauce pan on the stove covered with water. You add a cap full of vinegar and a bay leaf. I cook mine for about 2 hours that way, but when a knife slides straight in that's a good way to tell if it is done. I hope that helps.
