Re: this is embarrasing

Hey Danni, The last few weeks are the hardst as bub gets organised to make their grand entrance! I was a week overdue ( and as I had to travel 500 k's to deliver I was REALLY keen to get going!) I had shocking pains as bub's head was sitting so low. I had to be catheterised twice as my bladder wouldn't work as bub was sitting where she shouldn't!!!! I tried walking, bumpy drives, hot curries, sex, disgusting tasting concoctions, etc.. etc... but bub decided to arrive the night we decided to go out for dinner! My mother has never forgiven me as I said she couldn't stay with us ( she stayed at a hotel for 7 days- hubby deciided to go to a rodeo and dislocated his knee the night I headed off to wait for bubs under doc';s orders- so as I was really ticked off being the size of a beached whale and haing to wait on him hand and foot, I really didn't really need any more stress!) and MIL came through town and ended up staying the night with us as my waters broke as we were all set to go out for dinner!Timing...who can pick it!!! If you are having lots of pain....ask if you can have a scan to make sure bub's is facing the right way. In fact if you can insist on it ...do it! I had terrible problems for the last few weeks and it worked out that she was facing the wrong way. Long story and you only need good stories at the moment!!! All I can say that once you do go into labour.....you will know the diffference!!!! ( You could even be like my girlfriend who started labour and delivered within 3 hours last week!!!! ) She rang me and said she was having pains every 8 minutes, did she need to go to hospital?? As she had an hours drive...I said GOOOOOOOOO...She had bub an hour after getting to hospital! You will know by 2 things....Your waters break ( you will know when this happens! It is more than a bit of discharge!) or your pains become regular and more intense over time! Braxton Hicks are practice and are irregular and eased by movement! Good luck! The day is very close when you will get to meet your bub! Keep in mind that with your birth plan, everything is flexible. go with the flow! I can't ( very unfortunately) have drugs stronger than gas as I have an adverse reaction...... but if you are labouring for an extended time......don't be afraid to have an epidural as it can make a big difference to your recovery and bubs .The main thing is is to listen to your body, try all the alternatives, but remember that help is allowed!

Good luck my dear! It is a strange experience painful, yet the best thing thing that you can ever experience! Go figure!

Re: this is embarrasing

Hi Dannii,

I had chronic pain with 3 of mine, and it started quite early on for me, about 5 months, this time round, I've got the pain now, but it has only started in the last few weeks, so not so sore.

The further down he moves, the more pressure there is going to be on your pelvic region.  this can hurt and feel as though your legs are going to pop off one day.

I bet you are having trouble going to the toilet now too.  Yep, I'm there as well, again, it is because of where bubs is sitting.

what you are feeling is normal, just strange, especially being your first (I was lucky with my first, and didn't have any of the normal complaints in late pregnancy) and you still being so young.  Because of your age, your body hasn't fully stopped growing itself yet, so you are getting growing pains and pregnancy pains combined, which has got to suck!

Use your gym ball, but as you have already found, the more you do, the lower he gets, so go easy with it.  No bouncing races! lol.

I would say his head is engaging, which will put even more pressure on your body.  Once he is comfortable and happy with his position, then it is more than likely going to be time for him to come out.

Hey Danii, I am not sure how far you are along in your pregnancey but with my 7th child i had alot of pain and pressure down low i found out thsat he was sitting very low down and had seperated my pelvic bones 2months before i had him it was very painful ican tell you. It used to hurt to sit, walk stand or do just about anything at all the last two months. So i told the drs that when they broke my waters he would come with them. I was not far wrong i went into labour at home and stayed at home as long as i could as i was to nbe induced the next day anyway so at 5am the morning i was to be induced and after being inlabour all night i rang an ambulance to take me to hospital. Arrive3d at the hospital and they broke my waters at 7.30am and Tyson was born at 7.50am so i was right when i said he would come weith my waters. If it gets too bad call the hos[pital and just have a chat to them about the feeling and the pressure you are having they will advise you of what to do. I used to lie down on my bed as this was about the only time i could try and get comfortable i would always place a piullow between my legs for extra copmfort and to release some of the [ressure. Feel free to minti mail me if oyu like or i will be on msn later maybe.

Hope this helps hun and good luck

Re: this is embarrasing

Dannii17, i had the same feeling in the last month or more of my pregnancy and was told it was because bub was so far down in my pelvis, he was stuck down there for a long time, everytime i rolled over in bed i could feel my pelvis crack, kinda like when you crack your knuckles but a hell of alot more painful.  So i know how you feel...not long to go now though and all this pain and discomfort will be forgotten!!! (well mostly)

Re: this is embarrasing

just like cheekymonkey because bub was so low in my pelvis i knew once i went into labour it would be quick and it was, the whole thing lasted 40 minutes and only took 2 pushes...so here's hoping your labour goes quickly and smoothly!
