Crawler or "Bum-shuffler"?

Hi all! Just wondering how many of you out there have had kids that "bum-shuffled" instead of crawling. By "bum-shuffling" I mean getting around by being in a sitting up position and shifting their backsides to get to where they want to be, instead of getting onto all fours and crawling there. The reason I ask is my nephew was a shuffler, and there are indications that my Krystana might be too, so I'm curious to see how common it is.

Re: Crawler or

hi

we had a family friend who use to do this, she was the same age as my cousin and when they got together there was no stopping them lol they were as fast as each  other,

her mum kept taking her to doctors to see if it was normal (this was 17yrs ago) and everyone came back saying that it was totally normal and not to worry about it,  she's in year 11 now and is one of the her school's fastest runners and swimmers,

Re: Crawler or

My girls have either crawled or gone straight to walking.  No bum shufflers here! lol.

My sister did though, she hated being on her knees so learnt very quickly she could get around by shuffling on her bum.  It was cute! lol.  And she was quick!

Every child is different.  They learn to crawl and walk in their own time.  While you might feel your daughter is slow in this area, she might be developing other skills and will work on this later.  Trust me, she won't just work on it, but really take off! lol.

Re: Crawler or

I thought ours would be but she turned out to be a regular crawler, she just started really late she was 1 year and 1 week old when she began to crawl.  I did nanny for 3 girls though, one was 4 and then twins and the older girl had been a regular crawler but the twins were terrific bum shufflers and also learned to ride those little plastic motor bike looking bikes very early so they were very fast and hands free,  Looked very funny and quite amazing.  They're heaps older now and quite bright etc.
