I it has been a while.I am just wondering what age i shouldbe thinking about giving my son a pillow? he is 1 sleeps in his cot in a sleepsuit. no blanket, as he always kicks it away.
Hi, my son has had a small comfort pillow since he was 1year old. Its only about 25cm long my mum gave it too me to help him associate sleep time. but it has special filling in it so that they can breath through it, in case it covers there face. You can buy them from most baby shops.
my son decided he loved sleeping with a pillow from about 6 and a half months, me he rolled over and decided to sleep one one when we had him surronded by them on the floor for a nap. he kicks of his blankets too, so we make sure he's got an extra layer on, seems to do the trcik
id say it would all depend on how you think your child will be with it. do they roll around alot during their sleep? or before they go to sleep? my son is 18mths old and i have only started to give him a pillow but only at his day nap so i can still make sure the pillow doesnt end up on top of his head. we had a very cold winter this year and as a result he's worn 3 layers of clothes, 2 sleeping bags and once i know he's asleep and not going to move for the night, i have put 2 blankets on him to keep him warm. so yeah, overall, id say it would depend on how you think your child will be with them, as you know best!!!! good luck
There is some good advice under my question that I wrote in Feb. Although my baby was 8mths then the advice is still good and suited to your Question click here to see.
My baby is now 12mth and he still sleeps without a pillow. Somtimes he will use his blanket or teddy as a pillow.
My son uses a square throw pillow in bed, and has since about 12 months. We use a very hard pillow instead of a side rail for him in the bed, and I discovered he was shifting around in bed every night until his head was on it (and it isn't very comfy!), so I just let him have it.
A lot of people, when I asked this, said they gave their kids pillows around one year as suggested by a doctor, when their little ones were stuffy nosed.
Our 1 year old has some bulky teddies that she uses as a pillow and she has a couple of blankets in her bed too, though they don't usually stay on for long.
You could definitely try giving your son a pillow, a thin one to start with, and see how he goes with it.
I think it was at about age 1 I gave my son a thin pillow to sleep on.. I always had a blanket in the bed but he always kicked that off too.. Still does...
