Re: High blood count?

You could be fighting an infection of some sort.  My last blood count was high too, but I had the flu at the time.   Also, the more you bleed, the harder your body has to work, so could be over producing cells etc in order to keep you going.

Re: High blood count?

Just means your body is fighting an infection. Nothing to worry about. Mine was high a few times in pregnancy.

If you want to know more about high white cell counts just google it

Re: High blood count?

If your body is fighting an infection then a blood test will show show that the white blood cell count is higher than normal. There is another thing in the vlodd test that will be ekevated as well for the reason, but I forget what it's called!!

Re: High blood count?

Hi emz, unless they tell you otherwise, they are talking about the white blood cells.  When they say you have a high count it means that you have an infection somewhere in your body.  Though I could only guess where....And it should change after starting the medication.  Anti-biotics will never make your blood count high...that is something only your body can do, unless you are taking medication that is for producing more white blood cells (forgot the name, but it's used for chemo patients).  I would certainly be asking them to do follow up tests, and get a copy of the lab results.  If you can tell me which ones are high (there are a couple that can be elevated), I can tell you if it's for infection or something else....Hope you are feeling better!

Re: High blood count?

Hi Letti ,

Thats right i have too many white blood cells which means i have a infection going off somewhere . It could be 1of 2 things it could be that i have picked up a infection somewhere wherei have been bleeding for so long or there is a chance that the miscarriage has brought the pelvic inflammitary disease back, i have to go for further tests tomorrow to see if they can detect where the infection is but i have been taking anti biotics since monday.

Re: High blood count?

Probably a high white cell count, as that is the standard test, but who knows? It could mean you do have an infection. So if the blood was showing a high count before your anti-biotics, then it confirms that you did have an infection. What were the anti-biotics for? I have so lost track of everything.LOL Speak Friday and you can fill me in,please.LOL
