Re: Showing

I too got a bump very early on-very tight and high up. Virtually no fluid retention and gained very little extra weight during the pregnancy but I was all belly and booby out the front (went from a 10B to a 12DD in bras- quite a shock!). As I wanted to keep it quiet for as long as possible at work and so on (first pregnancy so I was a bit overcautious) I invested in a couple of single breasted jackets a size too large to wear buttoned up at work. Even though it looked like I was smuggling a melon without a top on, with the 'magic' jackets no-one could tell for ages. Then when I was ready to tell everyone let it all hang out :)

Good luck! Being pregnant is awesome and beautiful.

Maybe it's twins???? Or maybe you are one of these people that carry extra fluid.

Congratulations and good luck

Re: Showing

One of my girlfriends had a similar thing with her 2nd and 3rd pregnancies - by 9 weeks gestation she looked like she was 7 months pregnant.  With my girlfriend it was just her bodies way of saying "woo hoo I'm pregnant" and she carried the extra fluid around until the baby grew into it.....does this make sense?  Both babies were born fine and she shrank back to normal no differently than any other pregnant woman.  It is just a pain to have to be wearing maternity clothing this early in your pregnancy and unfortunately there is no hiding your pregnancy till you have reached that 3 month mark if that was your intention.

Hope this helps ;)

Re: Showing

Congrats!  I personally didn't show til almost 20 weeks with my first, but a good friend of mine started showing at week  8 with her first.  Her doctor said that for some reason her uterus reacted very quickly to the hormones she was producing.  She was also probably closer to 10 weeks - they were having a hard time figuring out her due date!
