Have you had a natural child birth after a c-section?

I am wondering if anyone on this site has had a natural child birth after having a c-section.  Did you have your birth in a hospital?  Did doctors or mid-wife tell you what the risks to the baby were?  How did it go?

Re: Have you had a natural child birth after a c-section?

Hello, my 5th son was a VBAC and l had him in hospital, midwife delivered him. l was told the risk and also told that the adventage of it happening was very low as l had 3 naturals before and only one c section. You might say the delvery went well considering l gave birth to a 10lb baby boy, drug free, no scratchs or stitches. Good Luck

Hugs

Re: Have you had a natural child birth after a c-section?

i had a natural 2 1/2 hour born with my first c-section with my second and a 45min natural with my third

I was not told the risks but the hospital was ready to do a c-section if they had to

I would have a natural again because the recovery is so quick and you feeling top of the world straight after not like a c-section when you just want to sleep and you didn't do anything well maybe a little bit HAHAHA

Re: Have you had a natural child birth after a c-section?

Hi!  I think Izzy has put links to some of my advice above. I had an emergency caesar with my first child and a vbac with my 2nd and I know there are other mums on here who have too.  It certainly is achievable and for me much easier and more connected than a caesar.

There are risks and medical staff should go through them with you.  For me the risk of uterine rupture was low and compared to the risks of major surgery it seemed much safer.  I was one of the rare people who has had an induction with a vbac as generally staff won't take teh risk, but again after going through the risks with the doctor we decided it was a safer option and if he would risk it, we would - successfully as it turned out.

Giving Birth wasn't easy - for me it was a long process and given the constant monitoring it was very painful as i couldn't move around.  But, though the delivery was not fun, I would far prefer the outcome - my daughter was born in dimmed lights, with music playing and surrounded by mum, dad & 2 staff.  She was feeding 20mins later and I got up, had a shower and walked to my room an hour later.  It was infinitely better for our connection, my state of mind and my capability for dealing with a newborn and a toddler.  Plus she has been a much calmer baby and I think the calmer pregnancy and delivery has something to do with that.

Feel free to email me with any questions and have a look at my advice too.  Hope that helps!

Also, forgot to say - we did both births through the same hospital.  DH could not consider a home birth given what happened with my son, as we are 40mins from the hospital.  I have heard that a home birth is great for many women seeking vbac as you are not having to deal with the same restrictions hospital staff will put on you.
