Re: Severe Morning Sickness HELP!

hi there sorry to hear your not doing so well i understand i'm 35 weeks and i'm still sick and haven't gained much weight through out the pregnancy lost quiet abit in the beginning. i ended up going to my doctors and had to be put on maxolin which i've heard has help helped others i wasn't so lucky and had to go to hospital due to dehydration. but was advised to sip my fluids through out the day not taking in heaps at a time and water was best( but trying soups and veggy juices is a good idea too just to try and have something) also to trial all foods in small amounts until i found what would stay down and stick to it to, so to  have something in my stomach and also to keep taking my multivitamin as this helps with nutriants.

Re: Severe Morning Sickness HELP!

im so sorry you are going through this. I was very sick from 6 weeks pregnant and lost weight quite badly as i couldnt keep a thing down.I was admitted to hospital a few times to keep my fluids up. There is nauses tablets the dr can give you but only at a certain time you can take these. Mine wasnt worried till i was over 4 mths pregnant and when i hit that mark and i was still as sick as the first day and lost alot of weight thats when i was admitted....I did fine sipping on peach syrup from the canned fruit helped me enough to notice. But im so sorry to say, nothing helped until i had my little girl....I really hope you get alot of rest and it eases up on ou soon.....

Re: Severe Morning Sickness HELP!

I'd suggest you try some of the natural remedies before resorting to chemical medications. My favourite is ginger. If you are in Australia, there's a ginger cordial available "Ginger Refresher" (made by Buderim). I found it useful when I was on chemo. They make jubes too. Other than that, try chopping/grating a little fresh ginger into your tea, adding it to stir-frys etc. There are also homeopathic remedies for nausea, which you spray/drop under your tongue. Try a Health food Shop.

On a lighter note: I had a friend who vomited all the way thru her pregnancy. Her pregnant belly grew so big she was tested to see if she was having twins. No twins; just one very large baby. Who grew into a tall & well-built young woman & now has 3 kids of her own. I don't know where she got the nutrients to grow; it certainly looked to me like it was all coming straight back up!

Re: Severe Morning Sickness HELP!

My first pregnancy I was sick all day like that and I had to figure out what certain foods or smells triggered it. Once I got that down I was ok. It was weird stuff like I could not drink milk without throwing up and I normally do not have a problem with milk. I could also not smell mint or I would throw up..I even had to switch to kids' toothpaste! LOL Good luck! :)

l also had all day sickness (as l called it) with my 5th son ..... l ate alot of bananas which helped a real lot. l ate alot of ice as well, but l tryed to avoid big meals and certain foods cooking - the worst was meat cooking, so my hubby had to cook for the first 4 months. Re: Severe Morning Sickness HELP!

It is different for everyone, but I know how bad it can get.  With my first baby, I required hospitalization on 3 occasions.

Chilled water is good, especially if you drink it through a straw.  Or you could suck on ice.  The coldness helps to settle the spasms in your stomach.

Plain salted chips replace the salts your body loses through vomiting, and they are light enough that your stomach will tolerate them better.

Bananas can work too, I found the greener ones were the best as they aren't too sweet.

The thing that is hard is keeping something in your stomach, but it is important to do so.  Excessive vomiting can lead to bleeding in the stomach, which makes it a lot worse.  Been there too.  After you have vomited, sip some water or eat some chips.  I always felt better after vomiting and was able to have small amounts of food and drink.

If you let this get too out of hand, you may require a few days in hospital so that they can rehydrate through a drip.  They can also give intravenous meds to help settle your stomach, which works better than the tablets, which I could never keep down long enough for them to start working.

Another thing I found that helped somewhat was to eat vegetable based soups.  It is easy for the stomach to digest and causes less irritation.
