I am a little puzzled with all the info, but Now Lennon is 1 i was not sure what to do in terms of his feeding, he has been on formula ever since i went back to work. But when is good to change him over to real milk? formula is so expensive and he eats so well.
My boy is now 15months and we haveonly just started him on cowsmilk he loves it and we give him one bottle of formula a night for bed time so that he gets plenty of the Nutrition he needs. We have started giving him his cows milk in cups and he loves this.
hi there, my daughter and i have our breakfast togetherm and more tines than not shes interested in my breakfast (shreddies) i have semi-skimmed milk with mine, but after a couple of weeks i noticed that she wernt allergic or it didnt seem to upset her tummy, so a week before she turned 1 i gave her full fat milk, i didnt wean her on it or add formula to it, and shes doing fine, hope this helps
hi, some mums may be in horror, but i was told by the breastfeeding ass, that kids dont NEED any type of milk from one. As Jade wont take cows milk nor formula. I was told if she has a great diet and has yogurt cheese and a good range there is no need for milk. I do how ever put cows milk in her weetbix, and whatever i now cook for her. jade is two weeks off one and now eats HEAPS is growing and her weight is fine. Good luck,
You could start introducing cows milk any time now. Maybe add just one scoop of formula too it if you are worried about the nutritional side of things.
Generally speaking, he should be fine on normal full cream cows milk (if he has no allergies). Try introducing a bottle / cup once a day for a couple of days, and if that seems ok, increase it slowly until he the formula is finished.
Personally I think those toddler formula's are just a wrought to make extra cash out of, and drain the funds of caring parents. If he has having a balanced diet and is a normal healthy child, formula is not required.
Cate's pediatrician changed her over to whole milk at 12 months old..He advised me to give her 1 bottle of wholemilk the first day ( instead of formula), 2 the second day etc..Until on the 4th day, she'd have 4 whold milk bottles and 0 formula bottles..
I hope this helps and yes you will save alot of money once your little one goes to whole milk!
I put my daughter on cows milk when she turned one and that was in may. As she is a realy good eater I thought 1 would be a good time and its great as I have extra money not paying 26 a week for milk and she now drinks more water than milk.
You have been given some excellent advice here......I think it is trial & error, every chils is different. Twelve months is a good age to start changing Lennon over to cow's milk, especially if he is eating well.
Try half formula and half cow's milk, to start off and then gradually cut out the formula....I only say gradual because some children may have a change in bowel movements until their body gets use to full cow's milk.
My Son is now 13mth old and we started changing when he was 12mth. We gave half formula and cows milk for a bit, now he is on 2 bottles of cows milk. Morning and after lunch. We still give formula at night before he goes to bed, cause we found that he was waking up rather early, hungry.
Generally speaking at 12 months they're able to go onto full cream milk. As you said he eats well so there shouldn't be a problem taking him off formula now. Just make sure he's getting plenty of nutrients from his food.
For our daughter we started to transfer her over to full cream milk once she was 1.
I think as long as they are eating well and getting the nutrients they need from their food there is nothing to worry about.
