Yikes please bear with me on this one.. My soon to be 10 month old only has 3 teeth and is starting to grind them.. Any ideas on how to get her to stop.. This drives me absolutly crazy!!

Also I am nursing her and trying to wean her.. I am have a huge problem with this.. She really likes to nurse, she will not take a bottle from me, or even a sippy cup or a regular cups she just pushes them all away and turns in to be nursed!!! She is also eating 3 meals a day and i try to nurse her after each  meal. I guess 4 meals because she still gets pablum at bed time with homo milk in it. She is getting lots of milk in other products she just wants to be nursed!! any ideas on how to help me out with these few dilemnas!! thanks in advance!!

Re: please help me!!

My little one also was grinding her teether when she first got them!! I think because it was new to her that she actually had teeth in her mouth and was "testing" them out!!

She grew out of this and lost interest fairly quickly so it is possible that your little one may do the same!!

Can't help with the nursing or the teeth grinding, but just wanted to say, our 15 month old has started to grind her teeth too.  Only problem is, she only ever does it in my arms!!!!

Re: please help me!!

I have been doing bottle then breast with my son for the past 6 months or so as we struggled with breastfeeding for ages.  He was doing great - would have 100 mls or so with the bottle and then have a bfeed.

He is 11 months old next week and has totally banned the bottle - just wants to breastfeed.  Loves the boobie now.  : ) This has been going on for about a month.  We are down to 3 breastfeeds during the day where I don';t even attempt to give him the bottle anymore and then at night I try to give him the bottle before the breast but he will only have about 20 mls and then refuses it (i am about to give up as who wants to hassle with 20 mls....)

So - we are in the same boat.  I have decided to just keep going as is and hope that he weans himself or try to wean when he hits 12 months and we start milk.  We have water in the sippy cup during the day and I am going to try formula in the sippy cup at book time ( before bath at night) so that he starts to get used to the concept of milk in his cup instead of water.  He loves water in the cup so hoping he makes the transition.

Good luck - not really any advice I guess - just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

Re: please help me!!

Thanks it is nice to know i am not alone.. I just wanted to let you know when i was done feeding her lunch(baby food). i left her in her highchair with a sippy cup of milk(about 2 oz and she downed it) so i added 4 more oz and she slurped it back .. So i think i will continue to try to give her the sippy cup with milk after her lunch feeding instead of nursing and gradually try supper as well... Just thougth i would let you know i tried that. Everytime i would hold her to try to get her to drink milk either from a  bottle or a sippy cup she would push it away and turn in to nurse.. I thought this  worked good as it is far from the nursing postioin. then of course lots of cuddles after she was done her milk,.. I did also switch her straight to cows milk.. so far so good!! Good luck to you...

Re: please help me!!

oh I know exactly what youre going through..my boy is the same age doing the same thing and ive been trying to get him on the bottle for a couple of months now with no success..someone did say to wait untill he can have cows milk and put him straight onto that..that could be an option although im pretty much at the point where sooner than later is better..I wish you all the best and it is kinda comforting to know that youre not only one going through the same thing.good luck..

Re: please help me!!

Offer your baby the bottle before you feed her, she is more likely to accept the change when he is hungry, than after a meal.  The best time to try is first feed in the morning, or straight after a nap.  Hold the bottle near your breast so she is in her normal comfort zone, then insist that she only get the bottle, not your boob.  It is a battle of wills, there is no reason that you should give in to her.  Eventually, it will get easier, however nothing will change while you give in.

The teeth grinding is just a moment in time thing... It is like the latest trend for her, she will find something else to amuse herself soon enough.  In the meantime, make sure she has something appropriate to grind her teeth on and chew instead.

Re: please help me!!

I don't know about the teeth grinding, but with the nursing I know that bubs can smell milk on Mum, so mayby you could try geting someone else to give her a bottle/cup to help introduce it to her. Either that or feed her with her propped up on pillows or something so she's not actually in your lap and "smelling" your milk. Then once she's gotten the idea that it's coming from a bottle/cup you could then go back to holding her while she feeds. See if that helps. :)
