Expressed milk/ colostrum

I have been expressing once a day since I got home to get a store up for when I go back to work. Today we were comparing the colour of what I expressed at the start which is more yellow with colostrum and the white of todays.
Should I give her the colostrum milk that I expressed? She will be a few months old before she gets it.

Re: Expressed milk/ colostrum

Absolutely no harm in giving her the colostrum when you go back to work. It will last 6-12mths in a  deep freeze.

Actually it will be very good for boosting her immunity once you return to work and she is exposed to stuff through daycare or socialising with other kids.

I expressed a bit of milk when I was really engorged (lots of colostrum there) and kept it in case either of my kids got really really sick.

The colostrum is very important..I would definitely not waste it..If she is still hungry give her more of the regular breastmilk. :)

I don't see any reason why you should waste the colostrum at all.  It is full in anti bodies so very good for her immune system.  Freeze it as you would the regular milk, and use it later on.

Re: Expressed milk/ colostrum

my advice is the colostrum is very good for her even at a few months old when she will get it, it may not be as filling but it is better for her so i suggest giving it to her and then if she needs a top up give her one.

all the best

Hey hun,

I suggest she will need the normal milk not the collostrum milk as she will be older then. thats my advice. She might be still hungry if you just give her the colostrum milk.
