Re: UUrgent help!!

if you are in victoria and the carpet is more than six years old then the landlord can't get anything from you, it is called wear and tear.

Find out the laws in your state.

Good luck

Re: UUrgent help!!

This is from the book Spotless....

For orange juice stain set on carpet, use napisan oxygen, cloths and paper towels

Test unobtrusive patch of carpet to make sure the colour wont leach.  Unset stain with a paste of water and napisan, leave for a few mintures.  Then, remove paste with a cloth and blot any moisture with a paper towel.  You may need to repeat process a couple of times.  Be careful not to get water on the carpet base or it will stain.  Have lots of paper towels handy to absorb any moisture immediately.

If carpet isn't colour fast (check by soaking a white cloth in vinegar and applying to part of carpet not on display; if any colour comes off, it'snot colourfast), you may have to patch the carpet.....but you probably don't want to do that so i wont go into it...lol  I hope it helps.

Re: UUrgent help!!

Or you could also ring up a carpet cleaning company and ask the best way to remove it, our carpet man gave me a can of dry cleaning fluid for spot stains....they might advise you the best thing to use.

Soda water will help to get it out, as will preen for carpets power shot, if you can get it from the supermarket.

Re: UUrgent help!!

Over here when you move out of a rental the carpets must be professionally cleaned. So I have never worried about the carpets because if they can't get it out who can? If the carpets are older then 5 years old then they can't charge can they or that could be painting of walls so may be an idea to find that out.

Re: UUrgent help!!

It is a bit different in New Zealand.  Here in Queensland it is 8 years for painting and 10 years for carpets.  We are lucky though, as our landlord has to paint when we move out and replace the carpets because of the way the previous tenants treated the property.  You should see the really bad painting job they left behind and the damage to the carpets!
