Headlice and the eggs

Hi everyone. Sorry for going anon, but there are some parents here who have children going to the same school as mine, and don't want my child to be teased or to find out she's got headlice and bullied etc.

Anyways, I have got rid of all the lice as i did the follow up and did her hair once, then again a week later, but still has the eggs behind her ears and on the neck line. I've tried the conditioner for a few hours and for over night, and tea tree oil and it's just the eggs that are still in her hair. She's not scratching her head, it's just the eggs are still here.

Is there a way to get rid of just the eggs? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Re: Headlice and the eggs

Well from a hairdressers point of view condionter will make it eaiser to get the eggs out of the hair it does not stop them getting lice and do not use a comb get them out with your finger nails that works the best  when you do get rid of the eggs by using a good lice treatment and they have no eggs go to your hairdresser and ask for a shine spray and that will help them not 2 get it again cus  it has a oil base and the lice can not latch on to the hair or even hair spray if you have a boy  hair jels  works wounders hope that helps

I have always sworn by hair conditioner.Shampoo as normal and rinse.Apply loads of conditioner and section off the hair.Go through each section with a nit comb and repeat every day until clear.I use this even when adult lice are present.the conditioner makes the hair too slippery to cling onto.

If you find any on a strand of hair, cut away that strand. It will grow back, I promise. Also, try using conditioner, even Miracle - Whip works well and wrap it up in plastic or something you find at a store like Sally Beauty. There are many ideas and the only thing you can do is try your best as you find the right one. Good luck! P. S. Don't forget to bag up everything you can with her pillows and blankets. Tie it tight, for a month. I know this is long, but it works! Also, try using a zipped, soft vinyl mattress cover to help keep them away from the mattress. This will discourage them.

Are you combing them out? You need to use that little comb and go through her hair piece by piece until they're gone. We don't rest unless we get the comb through 100 times without finding another egg.

Re: Headlice and the eggs

Hey, put the treatment/ conditioner in and comb through every day for 7 days. Have the eggs hatched? They are hatched if they look white and 'empty'. The ones which haven't hatched are a darker colour (brown) and uneven - look like a little brown rolled up in a clearish - white bubble.

If the eggs are white (hatched) it's not a problem. Keep combing every day until you can't see any unhatched eggs. If you do it every day you won't give the eggs time to hatch and lay new ones.

Good luck!

Re: Headlice and the eggs

poor thing my child has had them and I used the head lice treatment and pick the eggs out.  Also if they have live nits, pinch them and put them in water to really kill them.  Alot of people put hair spray in there childs hair every day to prevent head lice.  Hope this helps

Re: Headlice and the eggs

your poor child, i used to baby sit a my neighbours daughter and she always had nits.  we tried every remedy that the stores sell and the only one we found that workd was condtioner then cling wrap the hair for a few minutes  then comb out.

the eggs are always the worst to get out but picking them out might be the only way.

notifiy the school of the nit problem and get them to alert the other parents that way its not coming from just you.

hope you find a cure for her

Re: Headlice and the eggs

The only sure-fire way to get rid of them is to sit down and pick them all out, it is a pain in the a$$ i know.  If the eggs are dead you don't need to worry if you don't get them all out first go as they're not going to hatch. I hate hate hate dealing with headlice especially in spring when they are rampant at school-so you have my sympathy!

Hi,

Have you used a nit comb with the conditioner? Put the conditioner in her hair then comb it out with the nit comb.

Good Luck with it all,

Juzzy xoxox

I was thinking the same thing. The kit should come with a fine tooth comb just for this purpose.
