Fun things to do with a 6-month-old?

I know this sounds silly, but I feel like my 6-month-old daughter has so much more fun crawling/scooting around these days than she does when I'm actually trying to engage her in an activity. Does anyone have any suggestions as to some fun things we can do together? I enjoy watching her explore her new surroundings, but I want to feel like I'm more of a part in what she's doing!

Re: Fun things to do with a 6-month-old?

I remember when my daughter was starting out moving around and we just used to go to the park and try out different things, playing on grass and other softish textures where she could learn new things safely and i could feel like I was participating in some small way.  As she gets older you will find new things to experiment with and new places to find it which will help her to explore, be curious and investigate new things as she grows older.
Peace

We love the park as well, but since it's summer here the temp is reaching 95 - 100 degrees every day. It stinks!

Re: Fun things to do with a 6-month-old?

I enrolled my son at the local YMCA's parent & child swim class when he was 6 months. It's a class that's offered year round in my area. It's a 6 week class (Saturdays for 45 mins). Then I enrolled him 2 more times until he was nearly 2. He became quite comfortable in the water but he stll needs a floaty. Now that he's 3, the Y starts formal swimming instructions (without the parent in the water). Before they are 3, the class is all with the parent and it's pretty much just play and learning to kick.

So just based on son's ability and YMCA's policy, 3 is pretty much the age to formally teach swimming. My twins are 14 months old now and we have yet to take them to a swimming class. I just can't figure out how to do it with the both of them. :-(

It's a lot of fun, check it out!

That sounds perfect! My daughter loves the swimming pool already so that seems the perfect activity to do with her. Thanks for the tip :)
