Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
Hi.
There seems to be a lot of 'wifes tales' about how to tell if you're having a boy or girl, and so I was keen to do a survey to test out the theories.
If you would like to participate please respond with answers to the following:
1. Did you have a Boy or Girl?
2. Did you have morning sickness early in the pregnancy?
3. Did you appear to carry more to the front, or more across?
4. Did you crave oranges/citrus or sweets such as chocolate or neither?
It will no doubt be interesting to see if the theories hold true!
Regards

Re: Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
Hi. I replied below but then thought it might be better to put this summary at the top!
Re: Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
Hi.
This survey is just for me as I'm pregnant again and have had some of the symptoms of morning sickness etc which I didn't have last time, and given I had a boy last time I'm thinking maybe this one is a girl!
It's been a great response to my question so thank you all for replying.
Here's a summary of the results:
32 Girls v's 27 Boys
If a boy:
64% had morning sickness
95% carried at the front
41% Savoury, 21% Fruit/Citrus, 31% Sweet, 7% Other cravings
If a girl:
62% had morning sickness
61% carried at the front
54% Savoury, 6% Fruit/Citrus, 35% Sweet, 6% other cravings
So although not statistically correct it would seem morning sickness has no bearing, boys tend to carry at the front more than girls, and boys may give you more fruit/citrus cravings.
But then again... it's hardly conclusive!

Re: Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
First: Boy, craved fudgesicles and potatoes, and loved the smell of crayons (which I'm told is due to an iron deficiency) morning sickness until 12 weeks. Carried out front.
Second: Girl, potatoes, mild sickness for a few weeks, carried out front.
Third: Boy, apples (8 a day!!!), 3 weeks sickness, out front.
Fourth: Girl, potatoes and cheese, 3 weeks, out front.
Fifth: Girl, potatoes and chocolate, 3 weeks, out front.
Sixth: Boy, potatoes, peanut M&M's (500g and a sitting sometimes), 4 weeks sickness and carried out front.
They all looked like little basketballs. What I was most interested in is that their weight at birth had no correlation to the sex of the baby or the relativity to the due date. Interesting!

Re: Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
1 girl, 3 boys.
Morning sickness with all of them, it got worse with each pregnancy as I got older, gender made no difference.
I carried the girl and one boy very to the front, one boy very deep back and heavy on my spine, and one kind of across nicely in the middle.
All my pregnancies I craved different things, but one thing stayed the same - an incredible intolerance to salt and meat, especially in the first half of the pregnancy. First pregnancy (girl) my cravings were mostly cream, icecream, and chocolate and was exactly the same with the last one (boy). Second pregnancy (boy) was mostly malt extract and tomato - not together though! and the third one (boy) was maple syrup and again - seperately - tomato.
If the wives tales are anything to go by, my kids are all going to end up transgender! LOL

Re: Boy or Girl? My little survey... Can you help?
I might also add that I THINK I am having a boy this time (I'll find out in a couple of weeks), but an interesting thing is a woman I had met a year ago saw me at a party and I had chopped off all my hair (myself) very very short at the back it was as short as a boys back and sides the front a bit longer, but I couldn't stop cutting it for about a week, it was a compulsion. she had 2 boys and a girl and said your having a boy, and I said I hope so,why do you say, and she said, "you've had all your hair chopped off and I did that with both my boys, but with maddie i let it grow long" so there's another myth for you to bust. LOL. I'll let you know if we're having a boy as soon as I know. by the way with our daughter we couldn't come up with a single boys name we could agree on but had the girls name, this time it's the opposite, no girls names taking our fancy but have the boys name all picked out. (and I thought our daughter was a boy until we found out at 19 weeks)
