why will my baby eat solids one day and eat none the next

We've been doing well with solids for the last 5 months.  Recently, my baby doesn't seem interested.  She'll eat a few bites and then force everything out of her mouth, refuse, or, if I give her finger foods, throw them on the floor.  She's very healthy and I don't think it's due to teething.  Is this something I'm going to have to get used to?  Has anyone else gone through something like this?

Littlies have days where they are ravenous, and days when they really aren't too hungry.  As long as she is getting plenty of fluids, and you feel she is healthy and behaving normally, don't worry too much.  As mentioned before, they do have growth spurts, (expecially in the first 12mths), where they eat non-stop, and then they ease off.

I am sure that you are offering her food... At 10mths, when my wee man didn't seem too hungry, I just offered him a variety of healthy snacks every couple of hours.  If you are worried that she really isn't eating enough, try offering food first thing in the morning before milk, as that is when she will be at her hungriest.

It could be that your baby is simply going through a period of slower growth and does not need as much food. Perhaps you should look at the entire feeding pattern. Is she drinking too much milk? Try giving her the milk after eating the solids first. I think this is quite normal. The novelty of eating food has probably worn off. I used to have to use a range of distractions to get my daughter to eat. One favourite was getting her older brother to pull a range of funny faces at her whilst I loaded her up every time she laughed. But she didn;t spit the food out....

Maybe try some different flavoured foods....
