Re: 1 month to go

With all 5 of mine, they had the hiccups all the time.  When I ate, they got the hiccups every time!!!!  It is perfectly normal and means your baby is just fine.

The medical profession are still at a loss as to why an unborn baby gets the hiccups, as they are usually due to air bubbles.  The theory is that bubs is practising their breathing and that when they swallow amniotic fluid, it causes the same reaction as air does in the rest of us.

They also use hiccups as a guide of how well your baby is doing.  It is believed that some babies who don't get the hiccups while in the womb may have a breathing problem when they are born.  Not all, just a small few.

Enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy and take bubs hiccups as a sign that everything is just fine.  I hope you have a nice quick labour and everything goes smoothly for you.

Re: 1 month to go

Hi, while l was pregnant with Dean he hiccup all the time , pretty much all the time from 6 months pregnant. At first l didnt know what it was until l asked and discovered it was only Dean having his hiccups once again. He hiccuped alot after he was born, nearly after every feed....now he only does it every now and again if he brings up too much wind, so l try not to bring it all up. Its normal as everyone else said....

Hugs Heather xo

Hey, my son got them a couple times a week. Now he is 15 weeks and he gets them everyday sometimes more than once. Just prone to them early i think.

From the moment, I could feel bubs move it felt like he was hiccuping all the time.   It used to annoy me when he started up in the middle of the night when I was trying to sleep.

I think it is perfectly normal for bubs to get the hiccups.  My bubs also had them on and off for a while after he was born.

Re: 1 month to go

first let me say congrats  to you and your family

my son had hiccups from about 6 months onwards and i to thought somethingnwas wrong till the midwife told me its normal.

i found it happened more (like with us) if i drank water to much, or overdid it in exercising.  also certain foods you eat can make him/her have hiccups but its a normal thing so dont panic. and welcome to the world of mother hood
