Puffy eyes

My 14mths old woke today with puffy eyes.  They are a little red, they also don't seem to irritate him.  There is no discharge at all.

Could this be the first sign of conjunctivitis?

Maybe an allergy as well?  Something he might have rubbed on his face?  Just an idea.  Hope he's better soon!

Re: Puffy eyes

At this stage it could be anything. The (usually tiny) triangle at the inside corner (nose end) of the eye is called the Conjunctiva. When that is swollen its called conjunctivitis.

I get puffy eyes when I get water in my eyes in the shower so it could be as simple as that. I have had a lot of conjunctivitis in my time & its definitely irritating. I use chamomile tea (well strained & cooled to room temprature) to bathe them. It does seem to get rid of it.

good luck

Re: Puffy eyes

Hi, Dean had puff eyes a week ago and then the discharge came...l took him to the doctor and it was part of his cold. l was advise to keep his eyes clean, just wiping with a warm face washer and it cleared up in a few days...but he had yucky sticky stuff coming out of them after a few days.It could be your baby is getting a cold or its conjunctivitis....if you are under sure take bubs to your GP or the head chemist, for advise.

Good Luck and l hope they go down soon
