Re: children on ritilin
Hi,
My nephew is taking Ritilin and it does affect his appetite. His parents have found that it's best to give him breakfast before his first tablet. He often doesn't eat much during the day but as his tablets wear off his appetite returns, so they have healthy food ready then.
He has been on this medication for a number of years and the paediatrician moniters his height and weight at each checkup. If there is any concern then the tablets are adjusted.
We have seen a nephew change from an out of control, distressed little boy into a sweet, thoughtful and happy young man.
He is now 16. His weight is normal and height are within the normal range for his age. He makes friends easily and studies hard. As he is preparing for his TEE, it is obvious that he will achieve the marks to be able to study medicine. None this seemed possible before his diagnosis.
I wish you all the best for your son.
