Re: how??

Hun, I think just giving him a feed an hour before will be fine.  They might even want you to feed him during the ultrasound too as it might help to keep your gorgeous little man a bit more settled.

Good luck with it all and I hope they use warm gel!!!!!

Re: how??

i think the person on the other end of the phone wasn't very observant and didn'tknow that he's a newborn, the 6 glasses of water and hold is for the average adult, i'd give him a bottle around an hour before hand and they should be able to see whatever they needed to.

on a totally different note, i had to take cam in to PMH on thurs as his temp was over 41 degrees for a day, turns out he has an ear infection and tonsillitis and possibly somethign viral aswell, but he had to give a wee sample, i'm like how the hell am i supposed to do that?? i had a silver pie tin and had to wait for him to go lol. as it was my dad stood him up with the tap running and i massaged him a bit in the baldder area to see if anything would happen and lo and behold out came a nice stream :) just thought i'd share that. funny what people ask kids to do

Re: how??

Hi Danni,

There is no way you can put that much water in Ashton, Give him a bottle before your appointment ... his bladder should be full by the time they see him. l suppose they want him to hold his breath as well , only joking...it just everytime l have ultrasounds on my kidneys l have to hold my breath.

Re: how??

I think that the information you have been given is general information for anyone who is having an ultasound on their kidneys and that the hospital haven't considered that he is a newborn. I would contact the ultrasound suite and querie the advice. 6 glasses of water is too much for such a small person!

Re: how??

Hi Dannii,

Joshua had to have an ultrasound on his kidneys when he was about 18 months old and i asked the same question. They told me just to give him a drink about an hour before he came in. Just give Ashton his bottle and there shouldn't be a problem. They were able to see everything they needed to.

Hope everything goes well,
