Help - I'm sick

Any hints on how to look after/ handle the kids in the house when you are sick. It's just a cold, but I feel awful and just want to crawl under the covers and not come out for two days. How do you look after your kids when you're sick?

Re: Help - I'm sick

Do you have a trusted friend, family member, neighbor that could help?

Even getting someone to come over for a little while so you can rest may help..

I have been sick once since Cate was born and this is what I did..

I hope you feel better!

I'm not sure how old your littlies are but perhaps you could entertain them with dvds, lego, while you lay on the lounge and rest.  Let them trash the loungeroom with toys.

Well... there is no way around it unless you have help. You have to look after yourself as best you can.

With me, I let go of everything - no cleaning, no laundry, no cooking... nothing I'm not up to doing. I go set myself up in a room where it's OK for my kids to roam around without getting into too much things and I lie down and sleep (with  one eyes open of course). When you're sick it's really down to basics. Look after yourself and your children (feeding/changing).

I hope you feel better soon.

soldier on

Unfortunately, us mum's don't get time to be sick really. We still have to care for the kids (and partners LOL) and go to work etc. But, just forget the house work unless something desperately needs doing, chill out, even just laying on the floor playing blocks or books still gives the kids attention without exerting too much energy.

Get some good cold and flu remedies, obviously nothing that makes you drowsy, or if you are still breatfeeding, speak to the chemist, they may suggest something herbal ?

Good luck, hope you feel better soon

There is no easy way to get though it, unless someone else knows.. But for me, I just totally forget about the house....

My son is only three so can be some what easily amused with a DVD, so I either lay down on the couch with him while he watches, or I just take him to the bedroom and he can watch a DVD there...  When it is dinner time we all eat soup.. :)

I hope you feel better soon.
