Hey I know this is a very touchy topic but I was wondering if any parents from Perth have had there son/s circumsised? If so how did they go bout? I know I should go to my GP but I am scared that they will judge me or tell me its wrong.
My son is circumcised, but we agonized over the decision. In the end, we asked the pediatrician at the hospital, who told us nearly 95% of baby boys born there had it done.
That doesn't help you, but I just wanted to voice how weird it is that in the states, in many places, feelings about it are totally reversed from the rest of the world.
I'm not from Perth, but just a general answer, I know that in NSW around the area I live, not many GP's want anything to do with it because of the stigma, so I know of a few girlfriends who actually saw their gynaecologist's to have it done, but a lot will only do it under 6wks of age.
Don't feel that you should be ashamed of your decision, everyone has a right to their opinion, there is no right or wrong. Just be strong in following what you believe. Good luck :-D
My girlfriend who is in perth is having her lil boys doen, i think she wwent thru joondalup hospital but im not sure of the gp's name i can ask and il let you know. She went to her regular GP and he said straight out NO so she went to a gp referred and he is very open so ill let you know his name and conatact details!!!
All three of our boys are circumcised. However that was back in the day's when it was always done. Nowadays it is a personal choice, but should be done very early when the baby cannot control the need to empty his bladder. You should really talk to your doctor about this to get the fors and againsts. Do not feel embarrassed about this as you are paying for his advice. However if not circumcised he will have to be taught how to correctly wash as he gets older so as to stop any infections, etc. Hope this is of use to you.
