Weight loss diet

Hi everyone

I want to loose about 15 kgs. I have joined a gym and i am going 3 times a week, but my diet sucks, and i feel like i am wasting my time at the gym if i dont eat properly too... BUT, i am aweful at this sort of thing

So i was wondering if anyone has any successful diet plans or even some meal tips. Honestly, a whole weeks worth of breakfast lunch and tea would be perfect LOL (yes i am that bad) I have worked out to loose the weight i want, i need to stay at about 1500 calories a day... But i am lost after that.

I know the normal stuff, no junk food, soft drink etc... I really am talking about main meal ideas.

Please dont tell me about shakes. I am not interested in them. I need to eat LOL

I heard a success story on this on television the other day, the woman cut out one thing  at a time. She cut cola drinks first. Do you drink Pepsi/coke at all? How many a day? If so, that's 120 calories right there. Then you can go from there. And you can also substitute if it's too hard to eliminate. Maybe you have a favorite chocolate that is just too much calorie, maybe you can find a snack that has chocolate but yet less calories.

I once kept a food diary to figure out how many calories I was eating and after 2000 I stopped counting. 1500 calories is a tough one to do all at once, so I suggest easing into it.

Hi Cass

After i had Ella i brought the CSIRO Diet book. I lost 10kg in 8 weeks. It teaches you healthy eating and you dont starve at all. Worth a look in. Also you dont want to loose the weight fast its bad for you. You want to loose about a 1kg or just over that a week no more.

I've recently been using www.calorieking.com.au for meal plans and tracking what I eat. They have lots of recipes and meal plans, or you can add your own favourites in there. 

Good on you for going to the gym!  You're doing well.

A few years back when I wanted to shed about 20lbs I really found that eating 5 to 6 small meals a day worked a lot better for me. Snacks are really important to fuel the body you just want to make sure you putting into your body the right kinds of snacks. I increased the amount of water I drank to a crazy amount,cut out juice(tons of sugar),decreased caffine,added lots of veggies and really reduceded the amount of pasta and breads. There are lots of good low carb breads and pastas out that you don't have to cut them out all together, just have it in moderation.

Hey Cass,

At the moment I'm doing "The Biggest Looser" with my work friends, so that's a great motivation too. I've tried doing it on my own but struggle to keep it up, but having friends to do it with is much easier. I've lost 3 1/2 kgs in 2 weeks and this is what I've been eating.

Breakfast - yoghurt and banana or poached eggs on wholegrian bread

morning tea - 2 pieces of fruit or yoghurt

lunch - A big bowl of vegies, tuna and soy linseed crackers or a salad with tuna or chicken.

afternoon tea - low fat hot choc or caramel latte (Jarrah) which helps the sweet cravings. Or low fat cup-a-soup.

Dinner - I have just about whatever I usually do but just make a concience effort to have less and then make a fruit salad afterwards with some weight watchers strawberry mousse.

I don't eat pasta, rice, potatoes, hardly any bread. I still drink my coke zero but only because that's my one weakness and I'm good for the rest of it. It is a struggle at times but the results are keeping me on track. If you like tuna a great product from john West called, tuna to go, it's a little snack pack of tuna and crackers and is so yummy and comes in different flavours. You find it in the with the muesli bars.
