Low Blood Pressure

I have just found out that i am prone to low blood pressure during pregnancy and if i want to stop my migraines and headaches, I need to take it easy, this is easier said than done with a 16 month old boy. Because if my bp rises to much it may cause me to faint.

My question is how can i keep my boy safe while keeping my bp low as we do not have Childgates anywhere in the house atm?? the main problem is keeping him outta the kitchen and dining room as there are no doors from the lounge into these rooms.

I really dont want to put him into a room and shut the door just in case something happens.

any ideas would be appresiated.

cheers Queenie xoxoxox

Re: Low Blood Pressure

You actually need to increase your blood pressuer a little.  Mine was very low with my last baby, to the point where I was constantly feeling light headed and dizzy, even when sitting down.  If your blood pressure is too low, it can affect your baby too.

By the way, since when have you been pregnant?  I know I'm not on here much these days, but how did I miss that?

Re: Low Blood Pressure

I agree with the last post.  When I was pregnant and exhausted with little ones, used to lock myself in one of their rooms and take a nap.  They played contentedly for a few hours in there with me with toys.  Some days it was all I could manage!!  You have to do what you have to do!

Re: Low Blood Pressure

Could you play in another area of the hosue, for instance his bedroom where the kitchen and dining room arent' so close? Otherwise, investing in a baby gate may help! This will allow you to relax more and not have to worry if your little one is going to venture into the kitchen..Otherwise, if a baby gate is out of the question maybe installing cabinet licks so your little one can't open the cabinets in the kitchen and dining room will help!

I wish you the best and hope you feel better

Re: Low Blood Pressure

I have tried to get him to play with me in his bedroom but he always thinks its bed time if i shut the door and just screams the whole time, and it isnt the fact that he gets into cupboards, it is more the fact that he tries to get into the bin. we are going to invest in a baby gate so I dont have to close the door wen we go in there to play.
