Re: sore nipples
Hi! Well done for getting this far! From experience, I would say
1) check attachment - I found once we had it right the pain stopped (and I was like you in tears every feed) - and maybe try different positions
2) nipple shields, if you are really struggling
3) leave a little breastmilk on the nipple after feeding, but at the same time, change breastpads regularly
4) creams - lanolin or pawpaw cream (buy at the chemist) - also double check there is no thrush (if so use thrush cream)
5) take a panadol before a feed
6) don't dry out the nipple - don't use soap in the shower on them and use one of the above creams to keep them soft
7) try airing them out a bit (when no-one is around) - apparently sunlight helps a lot if you're game (but not too much)
& have a look here. I'll try to think what else helped, but Minti mail me with any questions...

Re: sore nipples
Hi honey,
I feel your pain as do many other mums . . OUCHY . . .
There are three things that come to mind, Nipple shields and Cold Cabbage leafs Daktarin oral Gel.. . .

Nipple shields are available at most pharmacies and you place them on your nipple and feed as normal . . The sheild acts as a guards between your sore nipples and your bubs hungry mouth . .
This gel is usually used for thrush on nipples when breastfeeding and it will not hurt bub . . Even though it's main use is for thrush there are many women who swear by it in relation to just having sore nipples . .
FINALLY COLD cabbage leave . . Store them in the fridge and after each feed place a cold cabbage leave in your bra . . There is a chemical that is released by the cabbage that is very soothing for sore nipples . . .
Good luck honey and I hope it all settles down for you . .
Cheers Kellz
