fathers day!!!

Hi all, unfortunatly were running a little low on money this month and being dannys first fathers day i really wanted to make it special. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on what we could get or make him (every week we usually do a foot and hand paintint and paste it into the scrap book so im trying to think of something different)

Also i had an idea to so a plasta mould of my Williams hands but being in a remote town the price made me almost fall over (i hate to sound like a stinge)! just wondering if anyone knew how to make the plasta or something else that i could do the mould out of.

Thanks in advance

Re: fathers day!!!

some others have said this but try salt dough (is that wat its called) or plaster of paris, we used either cement or salt dough to make our fathers present when we were young.

hope you find some thing for him, also home made cards are always more special then brought ones.

Re: fathers day!!!

you wanna do the hand thing right?

why not use salt dough???? I did that for my MIL a few years agoa nd was great.

just google salt dough recipies and try 1. its generally just flour, table salt and water, ou can add die to it to colur it or paint it later., My hubby did ours and did Charlie's Pinka nd Alex's blue. was cute. it bakes for a few hrs at 130 i think from memory, warm/hot to dry it out. its really cheapt o make too and when thee kids are older you vcan get them to make stuff too

Re: fathers day!!!

A couple of simple things my kids have made for dad:

a terracotta flower pot, painted & potted with a herb or a succulent- it only cost about $1.00 each (succulents were taken from a friend's plant that had spread)

an organisational pad - a notepad on a cardboard base, with a pen either clipped or attached to a string (they decorate and paint it) - ours is next to the phone

A photo of Dad & the kids in a special frame - they can even make their own frame or paint a plain one

A plain canvas from a $2 shop painted by the kids - just for Dad (or in our case Grandparents)

Re: fathers day!!!

Re plaster mould of kiddies hands/feet- you can fill an icecream container with hard packed, moist but not too wet sand and then press the childs hand or feet into it. when you have got a good impressiona that you are happy with, fill this with plaster of paris and let it set. Brush off the excess sand and spray paint gold or sliver once it is bone dry. Mount on a nice frame and voila! :)

Re: fathers day!!!

you could probally use home made playdough as your mould, i think you would have to buy plaster, craft store or cheap shops, i think i might give it a go too, lol

Re: fathers day!!!

Hi, I just added a link that might help you with the plaster moulds.  Why don't you get a photo of his first car and get it blown up and put in a nice frame?  Men like that sort of stuff ; )
