I understand what your concerns are.... the mix they use for sundae's and shakes are just a milk base product.

Lysteria is a bacteria that grows in a great range of food that we eat. The bacteria that causes Lysteria is sensitive to heat, that’s why they tell pregnant women to make sure all their meat is well cook, so that all bacteria will die... likewise when reheating foods, make sure they are really really hot before eating to remove all bacteria again...

So in saying all that above, McDonalds’ 'sundae and shake machines' are put through what they call a 'heat treat' every day, where it heat up the machine parts and products to over 80 degrees. for that very reason, to kill any bacteria that could be in there. McDonalds are very stricked with food handling and hygiene.... one small mishap could potentially ruin them, they will not risk that.
